King Abas of Argos was the son of Lynceus and Hypermnestra. He succeeded his father as king and had two sons; Acrisius and Proetus. His children fought in their mother's womb and, after their father's death, ruled in alternating years until Acrisius exiled his brother. Proetus returned with an armed force, forcing Acrisius to cede him half the kingdom, splitting the Argolid in half.
