Agni is the Hindu god of fire, sacrifices and priests, acting as the channel for offerings.

Agni is represented with two heads, one of which symbolizes immortality. His mount is a ram.

Family[]

He is the son of Aditi and husband of Svaha, the daughter of Daksha.

Etymology[]

The name Agni come from the word ag that mean 'to writhe', 'to twist around' according to the Inadi-sutra. But also Agni come from the Proto-Indo-European word *H₁n̥gʷnis.

Origins[]

The origins of Agni is unclear, many theorize that Agni like others gods: Like Varuna and Indra, have a proto-Indo-European origin based on the word *H₁n̥gʷnis, but others believe that Agni could be his origins in the ancient Indian traditions.
