Caelus also know as Coelus or Caelum was a primal god of the sky and King of the Gods in the Roman myth and theology, iconography, and literature (compare cælum, the Latin word for "sky" or "the Universe", hence English "celestial"). He is who rule the cosmos in ago centuries, he´s still present and see the kingdom that that belonged to him. Caelus have a brother call Pontus, who is the primordial god of seas and oceans, Caelus is a member of the (the primordial Roman gods).

Syncretism[]

The romans identified the Levantine Yahweh as Caelus, curiously Yahweh also was identified with Jupiter also by the romans.

Family[]

Caelus equal that his greek counterpart is the son and consort of a Earth Goddess, but some sources Caelus is just the husband of Terra but no her son, becuase in some versions Caelus´s mother was Dies (Hemera) and his father was Aether. But all the sources say that his children were: Saturn and Ops. But in some sources Caelus and Dies were the parends of Mercury, in hellenistics sources Caelus and Terra were also the parends of Janus.

Etymology[]

The name Caelus unlike with Greek countepart Uranus, he has not a Proto-Indo-European origin, but the name Caelus presumably come from the estrucan god of fire Calu.
