Catoblepas (cat-oh-BLEE-pas, "that which holds its head down") is a beast from Roman mythology.
The catoblepas is said to look like a wildebeast or a pig. In some stories, it has wings.
The catoblepas has a boar-like head. It is said to drag its head through mud eating poisonous plants. If it looks at something, that thing will turn to stone.
