Cepheus and Cassiopeia were two monarchs in Greek mythology. Cepheus was the son of King Phineus of Aethiopia. His wife, Cassiopeia, was the daughter of King Antiochus of Phoenicia and a descendant of Phoenix. They were the parents of Andromeda.

Cepheus and Cassiopeia are also the names of two consellations, as is their daughter Andromeda, Perseus, Pegasus and Cetus. Cassiopeia is shown tied to a chair, as punishment for her vanity. In some cases, she is shown holding a mirror.
