A kumiho (구미호 / 구) is a nine-tailed fox from Korean legends and oral tales. Kumihos are akin to European fairies. Foxes that live a thousand years become gumihos. They are known to shapeshift and often transform into women in order to seduce men and eat their liver or heart.

Kumihos are similar to huli jing (from china) and kitsune (from japan), but unlike them, kumihos are almost always potrayed as evil. The main difference is that kumihos have a yeowu guseul (translates to "fox marble") which is said to contain knowledge.

Some tales say that by not eating human flesh for a thousand days, kumihos become human.
