Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of wealth, beauty, fertility and prosperity.  She is the consort of Vishnu and, as such, forms one of the three Tridevi, with Saraswati and Parvati. She is a very popular goddess and is worshipped along with her husband. Her vahana (mount) is an elephant.

Lakshmi was incarnated along with her husband Vishnu several times. She frequently became his earthly consort in his bodily form; Sita when he became Rama and Rukmini for Krishna.
