The Tuatha Dé Danann or "People of the goddess Danu", were a semi-divine race that inhabited Ireland. They are believed to be the main pre-Christian Irish deities, preceded by the Fir Bolg and Fomorians, possible pre-Goidelic pantheons, among other invaders. They are the descendants of the Nemedians, as are the Fir Bolg. The Tuatha Dé Danann took control of Ireland in the aftermath of the First Battle of Magh Tuiredh.
